To Quit or Not to Quit

That Is The Question.

If you were us, would you quit law school? Believe it or not, we are actually considering it. Why? Because it's been 3 years of torture with another 3 to go. It's also turning out to be so much debt that we question whether we'll be able to pay it back or not. And with this economy, it's not like having a law degree guarantees a good paying career anyway. It's tough out there. Even for lawyers.

However, during these 3 years we've made so many sacrifices to try and make law school work that it seems crazy to quit now. We've relocated 3 times including moving with my parents and Alan moving in with my sister and brother in law for a year. We've tried several different job configurations-- Alan working full time, then part time, trying a business start up, then back to working full time again. Alan's put thousands of miles on his car commuting to school, and hundreds of hours studying and writing and sitting in class.

And the one I can't get over: I've been a single mom-- A LOT. I've had hundreds of nights of feeding the girls and putting them to bed by myself. That has been VERY hard for me to do over and over again. How would I ever get over the fact that all that was for nothing if we quit now? I remember during the first year of law school I would curl up into a ball in my closet and just cry because I needed help with the girls so badly and I was so exhausted. If we quit I'll have nothing to show for that.

But I also don't know if 3 more years is worth it anymore, or if the debt is worth it anymore. Or if the toll on our family and marriage is worth it.

Have you ever had a decision this big to make? How did you make it? I am so afraid we will make the wrong choice. Any advice please!

Fortie Family Reunion at Camp Nauvoo!!!

Just go for it Tyler. What happens at the Fortie Family Reunion stays there.

Doug pushed Carli and Trav REALLY high on the swings. Looked like they'd fly off!

Brooke swung on this swing ALL day for 3 days. Here she is almost falling asleep in it.

We had a big softball game. My team won-- sorry Alan!

My dad was the camp cook. He worked SOOO hard making yummy meals for us. We were very thankful.

We were Team Fortie instead of Team Jacob
(or I guess you could be Team Edward if you like ice cold rather than smokin' hot!)

Mom, Julie, Nicole, Alan, and Mike singing "When I Fall In Love"

Denny walking right in front of the performance: "Oh, opps! My bad! Didn't see you there!"

Aunt Nicole and her band "Rocky and the Revelettes" came and performed. It was AWESOME!

We went to a real gold mine that was in use when gold was discovered right in this area.

We had the kids lip sinc to "Old Time Rock n' Roll" at the talent show. It was so cute!

Only Brooke would insist on wearing her princess dress to go CAMPING!
