I was telling Alan the other day about how I don't feel like I have anything in particular I was "born to do." Some people are born to write, to sing, to dance, to paint, to teach, or in Alan's case- to computerize. ;) I was telling him nothing really stands out to me. He responded simply,

"But you make a home."

That made my heart soar. I'm thankful I get to do such an important thing. When we create safe, loving, (not perfect) homes we are not only serving our families but we are impacting the world the world around us!

Dress Ups

I'm not sure how I got here. Several days ago I found this pile of dress up clothes on the floor outside the girls' bedrooms. They had been cleaning out their rooms and decided these were just taking up space. As I looked at that pile of dresses, one of which I sewed myself, I felt a twinge of sadness. We're already at no more dress ups? Truth be told, the princesses and fairies phase has been over for quite a while, with one of the girls being 10 1/2 and the other on the brink of teenagehood. Still, I'm surprised at my feelings about that pile. When I look at my daughters, part of me will always see these two little girls in their dress ups.
