Alan started an acapella group almost 10 years ago at Ricks College called "PopRocks." This past weekend they reunited to sing at a benefit concert in Rockland, ID for a woman named Lori Udy who is battling cancer. We decided to take advantage of the opportunity to make some fun family memories and we did just that!

The PopRocks sang about 6 songs. Alan did a solo rap in a pop version of the song "My Girl."

Back in the day, we went to Ricks College with Whitney (left), who happens to be the wife of one of the PopRocks!
Also, you may remember David Osmond who tried out for American Idol this year but was cut after Hollywood week. . . .
Sam, one of the PopRocks, is good friends with David and asked him to come sing, as well. He is an awesome singer and I told him how mad we were that he didn't get very far on American Idol and that we were ready with our phones to vote for him! He said he wishes I was the new judge! (Kara Dioguardi). He said he would never go public about this but that it was pretty much known from the beginning that he wasn't going to go very far on the show because he was an Osmond and they were looking for more of a "no name" or "rags to riches" type person. He said Idol has given him good exposure and that everything happens for a reason. For example, he's now been on ET (Entertainment Tonight). And check out his new single "
Last Day!" I'm also a big fan of his EFY songs.
Emma went up to him all on her own and got his autograph. I didn't even know she had this until the next day!
Here are the PopRocks with Lori Udy and her husband. Her fight with breast cancer is very inspiring to me, especially since my mom was just diagnosed.
We also found time to play.
And while California might be beautiful in April, Idaho isn't necessarily so. But that didn't slow Emma down one bit. She played outside with no jacket at the Permann's house in Rockland, and at the Hodges in Pocatello.
We did Brooke's hair like Shaun's.

The best part of this trip was all the LAUGHs shared with our friends and family.
I wanted to cry when the trip was over. The PopRocks truly is a magical thing and it was wonderful to experience it this weekend. Each of those guys is so unique and choice. We feel so blessed to have such amazing people in our lives.
We decided to get Season Passes to Six Flags in Vallejo and yesterday was our first jaunt. We were able to meet our friend Sam since he happened to be visiting from Provo to see his girlfriend. So we spent the day with them and their kids (from previous marriages). It was a ton of fun. I can already tell our Season Passes will be completely worth it.

Brooke was a little nervous to go on some of the rides so she watched Emma a lot.
A couple of kids were REALLY excited to do their Easter Egg Hunt!
But one little girl was really exhausted.
But she managed, since after all, there were dozens of brightly colored eggs filled with sugary goodness to be had.
Easter is my favorite Holiday because not only does it mean warm weather is becoming more and more prevalent, but it is also the celebration of our Savior's resurrection, which to me is the most important event in history. This scripture gives me the chills every time: "He is not here for He is risen, as He said." Matthew 28:6
Alan and I got to sing at the Petaluma 1st Ward Talent show on Saturday in our band which we named "Rad." L to R: Me (vocals), Alan (keyboard and vocals), Dan Johnson (drums), Jared Hoag (bass), Brad Osgood (guitar), Conrad Martel (guitar).
We sang "Highway to the Danger Zone" from Top Gun which is actually by Kenny Loggins, believe it or not. And we did "Life is a Highway" by Rascal Flatts. I guess we weren't too terrible cause they wanted an encore so we chose "Pride/ In the Name of Love" by U2 and winged it. We had a blast!!! There's nothing like singing with a live band!!!
Alan really wanted to wear his leather jacket and buy those sunglasses ($5.99 at K-Mart) to get into character.

On Friday I saw these two lovely ladies sing in a performance about the Atonement of the Savior called "The Garden." It was absolutely beautiful. Lorna would have been proud!

Dad, Cori, and I went with my mom to Kaiser last week while she had her lumpectomy. She was such a trooper. It took about 3 hours. My dad's friend Kenny Martin came to support my dad, which was really sweet. We read magazines and anxiously waited for the nurses to let us know when they were done. When she came out of surgery into the waiting room she was still a little loopy and she was trying hard to show us she was fine so she starting smiling and waving and saying, "Hi Guys!!" It was cute.
