A Cruel Irony

When Alan and I first got married, he was toying with the idea of joining the Air Force. Although I am a patriotic person, I was against it because I did not want to move every few years like military families often do. Now as we prepare for moving yet again this summer, I've been reflecting upon all the places we've lived since getting married: Idaho, Hawaii, Utah, Colorado, and California. This will be our 8th move in 6 1/2 years. That's an average of one move every 10 months. Chances are very good we would have moved LESS if we actually had joined the Air Force. We don't regret the path we've taken, but it's just one of those cruel ironies, ya know? But we've met so many wonderful people along the way and it's nice to have friends from all over the place. Moving so much is the reason I have so many blogs to check all the time! -------->

(This photo was taken at Fort Irwin military base by Alan's dad who is a retired Army Dentist & Colonel. We love you!)

I feel your pain...of course I look back and think every move was where we were supposed to be at that time in our life... This last move was our 10th! I am glad that this time we won't be moving for a least 2 1/2 years! When is the big move again??

what a beautiful picture of the two of you! i moved so much as a child- it can be really fun...you learn that home is where you and your family are...not where you live!

where are you moving??

That is a cruel irony, I will agree! I love the way that was all written. You are so eloquent. Sometimes things work out differently than we expect, but there's truly a reason for everything! And I'm sure you wouldn't change any of your choices for the world (kind of like you said).

You have us beat! We had 8 moves in 7 years. I am so glad to be settled for a bit even though I know it is not permanent. Love ya and good luck with the upcoming move. Natasha

We have moved 9 times in 5 1/2 years. I know we have two moves still to go, hopefully no more, but what do I know?! :)
