ATTENTION: All you stay at home moms: Do you ever feel tempted to settle for your mediocre self? Right now I'm fighting the slow, inevitable pull that beckons all moms to run around in holey cinched sweats, a pony tail, children in tow, with no makeup.
No makeup!? At all? I must vow never to let such a thing occur, tempting as it is. Yes, I am busy, yes I am tired,
No makeup!? At all? I must vow never to let such a thing occur, tempting as it is. Yes, I am busy, yes I am tired,
But sweats-- holey ones? that would feel like I've completely given up on life. . .
Like I've-- dare I say it-- LET MYSELF GO. *%^#&@*^* [I can't even type that without cringing.]
Do you know what I mean? Or am I sounding totally snobby right now? I'm not saying I want to spend hours getting ready just to drive Emma to school, or that we should all be fashion models. But let's face it-- the way you dress sends a message about yourself to the world. Do I want that message to be sloppy and unkempt? I don't think so.
I CANNNNOT wake up one day and realize my clothes are from the previous decade. (Unless the goal is retro-chic, but I'm not that fashion savvy so I doubt that would happen.)
I make a promise here and now, before you, my blogging community of friends, to never let myself go. Sure, I may carry 5 more pounds than I prefer to at this moment in time, and sure I highlight my own hair, but I will not settle for pajama bottoms and a stained t-shirt.
Laugh if you must.
Call me preppy if you must. (And you know who you are!) lol!
But I will not.
And I will at least wear mascara each day. No matter how busy, no matter how tired. Yes I will.
Yes I will.
But what will happen when I have MORE THAN ONE child in school and sports? All I do is drive all day, anyway, right? I mean who cares what I look like, right?
It's creeping in. . . I must fight it.
I WILL FIGHT!!! WHO'S WITH ME?!!

I will always think you're hot, and I think its great that you are determined to never let yourself go. Basic dress and grooming can do a lot for attitude and self respect, more than we often remember. That said, I don't think there is anything wrong with wearing clothes from the last decade, or even a few decades ago ;)
You go girl! I hear ya! Good thing you're gorgeous no matter what you do! I know I have been camping with you:)
LOL!!! I'm with you! My determination is to NEVER drive my kids to school in my pajamas and bathrobe! LOL My friends' mom used to do it every day and part of her robe would almost always be hanging out of the driver's door! The best was when it was raining!!! I think if I can avoid that, I will feel good about myself! :)
(I do have a confession however, I usually am in my workout clothes when I take them to school) Is that socially acceptable?
LOL!!!!!!!!!!! oh my gosh. You won't believe it...nah, you will. I am sitting right now wearing seat pants, not holey ones, mind you, but sweats AND a shirt that is stained!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh and my famous hair do- a pony tail! This is terrible! I HAVe let myself go! I even drove and WALKED my child to class like this. I am so embarrassed. HELP! ASAP!
I loved this post! Even if I put my hair in a ponytail I always wear make-up which makes me feel better.
Jaynee-
I always wear workout clothes in the AM so think you are totally fine! I see that everywhere!
Macey just asked me yesterday to put my jeans back on. HAHAHa! I asked her why and she wouldnt tell me...but I know why. I feel ya and I promise to! I know a lady who never even wears jeans...she always looks so nice. I want to be like that! (but in cute jeans!)
