Just when I write a post like the one below about how hard Motherhood is. . .

I get a little gem. Tonight Emma read us a few stories from The Friend magazine. It felt so good to see her not only read so well, but also to read about spiritual things. It was beautiful to me. Then, after bedtime family prayer, I stayed up with the girls playing some songs from the Children's Primary Song Book on my guitar. We went through probably a dozen that had easy enough chords for me to play and Emma was really enjoying singing along. Brookie, too! Then we got to the song "Search, Ponder, and Pray" and by the end Emma was in tears and couldn't even sing. Then I started crying, too. And Brookie thought she'd join the tear fest, as well! It was such a tender moment. I hadn't felt the spirit in quite that way in a long time. I am so grateful. I am amazed at my children's ability to recognize the Holy Ghost at such a young age. It was a treasured moment for sure, and I know we will have many more of those if we keep spiritual music in our home.

"Search, Ponder, and Pray"

I love to read the holy scriptures,
And, ev’ry time I do,
I feel the Spirit start to grow within my heart—
A testimony that they’re true.

So, prayerfully I’ll read the scriptures
Each day my whole life through.
I’ll come to understand.
I’ll heed the Lord’s command
And live as he would have me do.

Chorus
Search, ponder, and pray
Are the things that I must do.
The Spirit will guide, and, deep inside,
I’ll know the scriptures are true.

I love this post! I was just telling Scot the other day that there are so many things to teach our kids and we are bound to forget something along the way, but teaching our children to recognize the Holy Ghost is the most important thing we can teach them! How sweet that you could all be tuned in enough to have such a powerful experience! :)

I must admit I joined the tear fest while reading this. Your girls are so special.
